An Education Award!

September 29, 2014

At the 2014 conference of the Transportation Association of Canada, organized at the Palais des congrès in Montreal, we received an education award for the Prevention and Awareness Campaign for OHV Safety in Nunavik. At the event this year, which was marked by the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Association, speakers and participants from across the country took part in discussions on a multitude of transport-related topics. Under the education component of the program, On the Right Path was presented an award for its contribution to prevention among youth aged between 14 and 20, for the suitability of the methods and tools developed under the campaign and, finally, for the positive and encouraging results already achieved regarding the safety of young Nunavimmiut.

The education award is a real honour and is a reflection of the participation of all those who have contributed to the campaign and continue to do so to this day. Many local, regional and provincial organizations share our interest in OHV safety and have lent their support to our campaign. The 14 northern villages and secondary schools across Nunavik welcomed us and were a huge help in promoting our message in the communities and to youth in schools. The award also reflects the region’s efforts to foster prevention to reduce dangerous behaviours associated with the use of OHVs, and to contribute to the improved well-being and safety of residents.

Congratulations to all and On the Right Path. Let’s keep up the good work!
